This is the all singing, all dancing poster version to the stunningly speedy CAD version.  Within the next week we will be able to print uptp 100 SQM per hour. 

Why is this so amazing?
Well, we are going to integrate web to print facilities so that our clients can upload their artwork 24/7 and they will go straight to the printer. 

Have a 100 variations of the same A1 poster? 
No problem, printed in as little as 30 minutes.

  • A1 posters printed in 16 seconds

  • 60x40 Blueback posters printed in 36 seconds

Oh, and at the demo we watched the engineer eat one of the toner pearls!  That's how harmless our new inks will be!

As part of the arts strategy for the new Eastgate office building pupils and teachers of Eastbank Academy worked with a team of creative professionals over a 3 month period to produce the artwork you see on this hoarding.

The work begins and ends in a series of drawings of famous landmarks from across Glasgow.  Each section then develops through a series of transitions, leaps of the imagination, where we move from the self-portraits of the artists, across sky and sea, mountain landscape and deep jungle, coasting through many cultures across the world and back down to earth, to the vibrant city you are standing in today. Along the way, lines of poetry remind us to recall the past and look to the future that this hundred metre stretch of road has seen and will see. Remember, in a few years time this path will mark a straight line to one of the key locations for the Commonwealth Games.

The East End has a proud and significant history of industry and innovation, of making things that couldn’t be made elsewhere. We hope this artwork is seen in the same light, bold, daring, of wonderful scale and ambition and made by the hands of local people, reaching out to the rest of the world.

This one hundred metre artwork not only represents the work of individuals from the East End of Glasgow, it represents the curiosity and the imagination of pupils who consider themselves to be citizens of the world.

Finally, we have made the decision to eliminate all solvent from our printing processes.  We have filled the gap with the new HP Designjet L28500.  This machine uses latex inks which are water based and just as robust as traditional solvents.  The results are stunning to fabric, making an amazing alternative to solvent inks on banner. 

So what does this really mean?

This is not a fad or a gimmick.  Solvent is not good and in our experience eco-solvents don't last and this has been costly for us.  Our print operators have to wear gloves and eye protection when using solvent, its nasty stuff to get in your eye and bad for the skin.  Latex inks are mostly made from water and completely biodegradable.

By incorporating the L28500 to our family of printers we use Océ Arizona 350GT UV curing flatbed that prints at photographic quality and the Océ Colourwave that can print 220 unique A1 posters an hour.  We have eradicated all solvent and implemented the highest quality, environmentally friendly printing machines on the market.

We were most impressed by the Greenguard certification allowing us to safely manufacture print for wallpaper and other media which would be safe for hospitals, schools and nurseries.  Latex ink technology is also perfect for food preparation environments.
